Handle Applicators for Bundles: Solutions for Even and Odd Fronts, from 0.25L to 2L and beyond.

Our handle applicator machines apply adhesive handles to bundles of bottles of all types. We manage without problems the most common formats (3x2, 4x2, 4x3, 6x4...) and standard bottle sizes (0.25L, 0.5L, 0.75L, 1L, 1.25L, 1.5L, 2L...). But we don't stop there: if you have special needs, our team is ready to design the perfect tailor-made solution with you.

Below are some visual examples illustrating the versatility of our handle applicator machines in different bundle configurations, both even and odd fronts:

  • Bundle of bottles Odd Front (3x, 5x) with Pronounced Handle Arch \(a\)
  • Bundle of bottles Odd Front (3x, 5x) with Normal Handle Arch \(a\)
  • Bundle of bottles Even Front (2x, 4x) with Pronounced Handle Arch \(a\)

Even Front bundles (2x, 4x, 6x, etc.), in which the number of bottles is even in the direction of advancement, present a specific challenge. In these cases, the useful section \(u\) of the adhesive handle must be positioned precisely in the neck between the bottles. Furthermore, a pronounced handle arch \(a\) is essential. Without it, the handle would adhere to the film, preventing grip. Conversely, in bundles with an Odd Front (3x, 5x, etc.), the handle rests on the central caps, naturally creating the necessary space.

The XHM Mechanical Handle Applicator is the optimized solution for applying handles to even-front bundles. Thanks to its advanced technology, it ensures precise control of the handle arch \(a\) and the useful section \(u\), while maintaining high productivity. The gripper, with its specific design, adapts to the neck of the heat-shrink film between the bottles, ensuring impeccable application without cuts or damage.

Handle Application on Can Bundles: Precision and Versatility

Decimo Srl handle applicator machines apply adhesive handles to can bundles efficiently and precisely, adapting to every need. We offer solutions for both "top" (top grip) and "side" (side grip) applications. We handle the most common formats (2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 4x3, 6x4...) and cans of different sizes (0.33L, 0.5L, 0.66L and beyond). And if you need something unique, our team is ready to design the perfect tailor-made solution with you.

These images demonstrate how our machines apply adhesive handles to can bundles of all types, seamlessly managing both even/odd front configurations and top or side gripping:

  • Can bundle Odd Front (3x, 5x...) with Side Handle and Pronounced Handle Arch \(a\)
  • Can bundle Even Front (2x, 4x...) with Top Handle and Pronounced Handle Arch \(a\)
  • Can bundle Odd Front (3x, 5x...) with Top Handle and Pronounced Handle Arch \(a\)

Applying handles to even-front can bundles (2x, 4x, 6x...) requires maximum precision. The useful section \(u\) of the handle must fit perfectly into the neck between the cans, and a well-defined handle arch \(a\) is essential to prevent the handle from adhering to the film, making gripping impossible. As cans are particularly delicate, the gripper on our machines is made with special materials and coatings to prevent scratches and dents. For these bundles, we offer both side and top application.

The XHM Mechanical Handle Applicator is the ideal Decimo Srl solution: precise control of \(a\) and \(u\), high productivity and a gripper designed to adapt to the neck of the film without damaging the cans.

Handle Application on Brick Packs: Solutions for Every Shape

Decimo Srl handle applicator machines apply adhesive handles to brick-type cardboard packs with maximum precision, adapting to every shape. Whether bricks with a flat top surface and protruding cap, inclined top surface with cap, or even with a tapered top end, our machines guarantee flawless application. Given the variety of shapes, the handle arch (\(a\)) is always essential on these products. Variables \(h\), \(u\), \(w\) and \(a\) play a crucial role for optimal results.

These images show the application of adhesive handles on brick packs, highlighting the key dimensions and the importance of the handle arch:

  • Handle applied to 3x2 brick bundle with orthogonal top surface and cap: the arch \(a\) ensures a secure grip on this traditional configuration.
  • Handle on 3x2 brick bundle with inclined top surface and cap: the application adapts to the shape, keeping the arch \(a\) essential for functionality.
  • Handle for 3x2 brick bundle with tapered top section: design and functionality come together, with the arch \(a\) ensuring an ergonomic grip.

Applying handles to brick bundles requires precise control of variables \(h\), \(u\), \(w\) and \(a\). The greatest critical issue, compared to other packaging, is the necessary presence of the handle arch (\(a\)), regardless of the geometry of the brick's top surface (orthogonal, inclined or tapered). The XHP Mechanical Handle Applicator from Decimo Srl is designed for this:

  • Correct determination of \(h\) and \(u\) based on brick height.
  • Formation of an optimal handle arch \(a\).
  • Precise and repeatable application even at high speeds.

Handle Application on Paper Rolls: Complete Guide

Decimo Srl handle applicator machines offer versatile solutions for applying adhesive handles to paper rolls, both single (toilet paper, kitchen towels) and in multipacks. Application can be from above (typical of single rolls) or laterally (common for multipacks).

Critical Factors for Optimal Application:

  • Handle Arch \(a\) and Useful Height \(u\): Even if smaller than other applications (e.g., brick bundles), proper dimensioning of the handle arch \(a\) and height \(u\) is essential to ensure a safe and ergonomic grip.
  • Pack Consistency: A compact pack, obtained with high-quality film and optimal draw, is essential for precise and consistent application.
  • Handle Material: Generally, the handle consists of adhesive tape coupled with a thin plastic insert. Decimo Srl also offers Handle Feeders (XHF) for creating custom handles, combining adhesive tape and plastic insert from two separate reels.

Application Examples:

  • Single Roll (Top Application): Ideal for toilet paper and kitchen towels, top application offers an intuitive grip.
  • 12-Roll Pack (3x4x1, Side Application): The side handle facilitates transport of multipacks.
  • 24-Roll Pack (3x4x2,Side Application): Particularly delicate, requiring precision application in the "neck" between the rolls.

The XHE Electronic Handle Applicator with horizontal head from Decimo Srl is particularly suitable for these applications. Servo-motor control allows for:

  • Maximum flexibility in handling different formats.
  • Custom application trajectories to avoid damage to the pack.

Handle Application on Carboys: Precision and Stability

Decimo Srl handle applicator machines offer efficient solutions for applying adhesive handles to carboys, both single and in multipacks. Correct application is essential to ensure a secure grip and prevent tipping during transport.

Key Aspects of Application:

  • Cleaning and Drying: Given the absence of heat-shrink film, the carboys must be perfectly clean and dry for optimal adhesion of the adhesive tape.
  • Smooth Surface: A smooth surface promotes adhesion of the adhesive tape.
  • Handle Arch: Essential for a secure and comfortable grip.

Application Configurations:

  • Single Carboys (Inclined Handle): Handle inclination is designed to prevent tipping during lifting.
  • 1x2 Packs (Long Side Handle): The handle rests on the caps, facilitating the formation of the handle arch.
  • 2x1 Packs (Short Side Handle): Application in the neck between the carboys requires precision to ensure pack stability and compliance with palletization height (quota \(p\)).

For more complex applications (such as the 2x1 format), Decimo Srl has developed specific solutions that allow for precise, repeatable and uncompromising application.
